Moffatt Scrap Iron & Metal Inc. Promotes Sustainability
The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) created the Design for Recycling™ policy to
promote the design and manufacture of goods that, at the end of their useful life, can be recycled safely
and efficiently. This initiative is in place to help promote sustainability.
The ISRI insists that the following 4 principles should be taken into consideration during product development:
1. Make consumer products recyclable
2. Reduce environmental risks from consumer products
3. Controlling special environmental problems
4. Assistance for manufacturers of consumer durables should be available
This policy is one that promotes the concepts of producing products that are more easily recycled and increasing the recycled
content of all products whenever practicable.
The ISRI is partnered with the Canadian Association of Recycling Industries in hopes that Canadian manufacturers will begin to use existing recycled goods including scrap metals when designing products in order to promote sustainability. Moffatt Scrap Iron & Metal Inc. works to create a more sustainable environment where scrap metal can be recycled and repurposed for initiatives such as these.
